Skiing at Savo

We spent the weekend at Savo with our friends the Adams' who have headed back to Australia today.

Took over water skies and the ski bob, and not only enjoyed having a go ourselves but also getting some of the local guys on board. They had never seen water skiing before so it drew a crowd and screams of laughter at the tumbles!! A couple of the local boys persevered and got up skiing which was great to see.

Now the Lodge owner Sir Alan has asked us to organise importing both skis and a ski bob for him. Will probably make him the first tourist operator in Solomons offering water skiing!!!

Anyway ...just a selection of photos from our weekend

Tummy Tickles

After digging up alot of our yard with her snout Maisie now has a fenced off area at the top of our section.

She still likes her tummy tickles though which Poppy is happy to supply

T-O off to Woodford Kindy

Mother's Day

Mother's Day in Solomons is a surprisingly big event. Presents get shipped home to mother's in the villages, feasts are cooked.Even the Prime Minister puts a half page ad in the local paper to wish Mother's of the Nation best wishes for the day!!

My day started with breakfast in bed, pressies and then we went to the beach for a swim and general laze about.

This afternoon we are adding 5 more mother's to the household as we inherit a friend's laying hens. They should produce between 20 -30 eggs a week for us. Poppy has plans to sell them at the gate but I suspect there won't be any to spare after they have been shared between the security guys, Cathy and us.

So from us, and Dr Sikua the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Happy Mother's Day to all you mother's!!!

A flying Trip to NZ

Carl has just had a brief trip to NZ to give evidence at a CAA court case. He also managed to catch up with family and friends and get a quick reminder of what "cold" is.

Flying in PNG

Carl has just come back from his first month in PNG. He had a great time, flying over 110 hours in the month and seeing some amazing places. His work mainly involves servicing the upgrade of telecommunication repeater sites so takes him to lots of remote locations. He's more than happy to be back flying again

He has been home for 3 days and is now heading off to NZ for a week.

A Kindy Boy

Tobias has had his second week at kindy and after a few tears is loving in. In fact its hard stopping him from going everyday.

He especially loves going to PE (I know PE lessons in Kindy is all a bit crazy!!)because he loves Mr Jimmy and Mr Gerea two fantastic teachers who teach PE to kids from age 3 - 15 years - no easy feat.

His week includes 2 PE lessons, 2 library visits, a music class and 2 trips to the computer lab where he moves a mouse erratically across a computer screen. This is mixed in with all the other normal kindy stuff you would see at home.
